Cinterion Wireless Modules heißt das neue Unternehmen, das aus dem ehemaligen Siemens-Geschäftszweig Wireless Modules entstanden ist. Die sehr erfolgreiche, auf Funkmodule für die Maschine/Maschinekommunikation (M2M) spezialisierte Siemens-Einheit wurde im Rahmen eines Buy-out per 1. Juni 2008 von einem Investorenkreis unter Führung von Granville Baird übernommen. Laut einer Gartner Studie, die Anfang Juni 2008 erscheint, hat Cinterion Wireless Modules einen Marktanteil von 34% und ist damit klarer Weltmarktführer in seiner Branche.
